Jeremy Tāre Hotai-Scully – Solutions Architect
Starting in 2016, Jeremy’s career journey at Ara Poutama Aotearoa began with cloud infrastructure and services.
As the Cloud Infrastructure Specialist, he contributed to a Probation Mobility Programme, to enable community based kaimahi (staff) to focus on what matters to them, the people we manage and their safety. The services - a new mobility platform and mobile app called “KETE” provided probation access to the information they needed, when, and wherever they were, providing a flexible, more mobile working experience.
Jeremy also had the responsibility of being an advocate for cloud services and demonstrating the benefits of cloud to Ara Poutama Aotearoa. His mahi in this area led him to becoming the Cloud Architect, which involved working with people across the organisation to provide direction around the adoption and consumption of cloud services.
Now, as a Solutions Architect, Jeremy has been able to dive into other focus areas he’s passionate about, Māori and Health.
“These kaupapa are important to me - I'm Māori and Pākehā, have a people centric mindset, and have my own views about hauora/well-being. These views align strongly with the purpose and values of Ara Poutama Aotearoa.”
Jeremy describes his current role as a Solutions Architect as involving three key aspects. First, he provides strategy and direction – supporting people to navigate the digital landscape by providing clear direction on where we should be heading. Second, he acts as a trusted Digital Advisor, forming strong supportive relationships with people and advising them on the digital capabilities that can support their mahi. And third, he helps to guide the delivery of projects and day-to-day business, through providing assurance and advice.
He says that some of the things he enjoys the most about his role are the passionate and inspirational people he works with, the variety of work, opportunities for learning, the work-life balance, and the opportunity to help our people navigate the digital landscape.
“My sense of hauora/well-being resonates strongly with Ara Poutama Aotearoa and its purpose - Kotahi Anō Te Kaupapa, Ko Te Oranga o Te Iwi - There is only one purpose to our work: the wellness and well-being of our people.
My ‘why’ is our people’s ‘why’. The opportunity to provide our kaimahi with the digital products/services and tautoko (support) them to do what they do best, to help people find their way to connect with their whānau and iwi, and be part of a better Aotearoa for those here now, and those yet to come.”
